One of the most significant contributions of recent time was the generous gift of $1,000,000 by Mr. Joseph Rumbaugh to RGI. To honor Mr. Rumbaugh, the Board of Trustees of the institute added his name to that of Mr. Leo Goodwin and the name was officially change to: Rumbaugh-Goodwin Institute for Cancer Research, Inc. (RGI).
Mr. Rumbaugh was surprised to learn that something that he really couldn't feel and didn't hurt could end up as such a devastating disease. He once stated that "... if I want to do something. I'd better do it now," He was dedicated in helping to find a cure for cancer and his legacy will help RGI in this quest.
At RGI we continue to explore basic laboratory concepts with the goal to transfer the health benefits to the clinical setting. We encourage and strive for cross-fertilization of knowledge between our researchers and the physicians who treat patients.
